This February Hard French invites you to Seventh Heaven for the formally dressed, informally wild, adult prom known as the Hard French Winter Ball. We bring it home to the Mission and enter the mystery with you this year with a celebration of you at the iconic Grand Theater at Gray Area Foundation for the Arts. Your Winter Ball includes a very special DJ set by pioneer Bay Area DJ Pam the Funkstress, a live performance by Fleetwood Macramé and the usual lot of Hard French surprises. Ask a date(s), prep a look for looks and buy your pre-sale ticket today because this years ball is not the one you wanna be all chiyeta about after cuz you didn’t go. It’s time.

About Pam The Funkstress:

One of the nation’s most recognized female DJs, Pam The Funkstress, is a true pioneer. She recently joined Prince on his lavish Piano and a Microphone tour, DJ’ing his after parties with her well honed blend of classic funk and golden era hip hop. It
was a crowning achievement for the longtime DJ, known around the Bay Area for her scratching prowess and her radio and club residencies.
She busted out on the recording scene as a member of The Coup in 1993 with their debut album “Kill My Landlord”. Filling a political underground void, the East Oakland based Coup, earned critical acclaim by following up with“Genocide and Juice” (1994), and “Steal this Album” (1998). But it has been her commitment to the
underground, DJs, and the music they embrace that has kept her fans scouring record stores and trade publications to get the latest cuts and dirt on their favorite DJ. To call Pam The Funkstress a DJ/Recording Artist would be negligent. She is an advocate for female independence and the pursuit of civil rights. College campuses frequently invited her to speak at symposiums and on panels to spread her message of success by self-reliance to the next generation. The Funkstress has been featured in music publications such as Rolling Stone Magazine, 4080, Rap Pages, Ms., Fader and Wired just to name a few. Known for cuttin’ the wax with more than just her hands, she has been asked to grace the opening stage for the elite in rap music. From KRS-One to Grandmaster Flash to Sean “Puffy” Combs in Europe, Pam The Funkstress has answered the call of duty to get the crowd fired up. From East to West, from studio to stage, Pam The Funkstress lights up the tables and always leaves the party smokin’.

About Fleetwood Macramé:

Fleetwood Macramé is quickly becoming the Bay Area’s most exciting tribute band. What began as a simple exercise in fun has turned into an awe inspiring live experience complete with show stopping renditions of Fleetwood Mac’s greatest hits. Audience participation is encouraged, and Bay Area crowds are coming in
droves to sing along with Fleetwood Macrame. Whats more, they sound so much like Fleetwood Mac, if you closed your eyes you would think it was the real thing. Only its better, because you are front row!

About the Grand Theater/Gray Area:

In 2014 the Gray Area found a permanent home in the Mission District at The GrandTheater, a former 870-seat single screen cinema built in 1940. The National Endowment for the Arts awarded Gray Area $100,000 to develop an immersive theater for experimental surround cinema allowing them to secure this historic building.
